WHITESNAKE Frontman: 'I Don't Accept That People Don't Buy Records Anymore'
May 18, 2011WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale says that he refuses to believe that music fans are no longer interested in purchasing albums and only want to download CDs illegally.
"I don't accept that people don't buy records anymore. I'm a huge iTunes fan," Coverdale told AOL's Noisecreep during a recent chat.
"I live up in the mountains of Lake Tahoe and any of the stores that sold records around the area are gone now. So Amazon and iTunes are my environment now. My wife is always concerned because I've had a hand-written note from the people who own Amazon thanking me for my business. I think to myself, 'Wait a second, how much am I spending [laughs]?' But I love buying new music."
WHITESNAKE's new album, "Forevermore", sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 49 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was recorded, produced and mixed by Los Bros Brutalos (Coverdale, guitarist Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre).
WHITESNAKE's "Live At Donington 1990" DVD/live double CD set will be available on June 3 in Europe and June 7 in North America via Frontiers Records.
